A tourist fell from a bungee into a river teeming with crocodiles (7 photos + 1 video)
In 2012, Erin Langworthy was traveling in Zambia when she agreed to an extreme experience. The Australian tourist jumped from a bridge over the Zambezi River, but her cable snapped. The 22-year-old fell 110 meters into the water with crocodiles.
Langworthy spent 40 minutes in the water, but survived and avoided an attack by predators.
Erin said: "I was all black and blue, my lungs were filled with blood and water."
The girl was rescued by an employee of the extreme attraction, she was rushed to the hospital in the city of Victoria Falls. X-rays showed that there were no broken bones. The victim was connected to a ventilator and given antibiotics because of the risk of infection from the water that got inside.
"I started coughing up blood and was worried about internal injuries. I felt exhausted and was trying to process what had happened."
Employees from the bungee jumping company visited Erin in the hospital. They apologized for what happened and were surprised that she survived.
Langworthy also said that the day before the jump she sent her mother a card in which she wrote: "Tomorrow I'm bungee jumping, so I'm saying goodbye to you... Just kidding!"
The card took pride of place on the refrigerator, but Langworthy no longer seeks thrills.

"I'm a positive person and I've never been angry about what happened. About 50,000 people jump from this place every year, so it was a pure accident, just wear and tear on the rope. Measures have been taken to ensure that it doesn't happen again," Erin concluded.
