An Enraged “UN Diplomat” Removed from Flight in Spain (4 photos + 1 video)
On January 17, in Spain, on a Ryanair flight from Lanzarote to Galicia, a passenger introduced himself as a United Nations diplomat and demanded a seat in the front row. The man refused to show his boarding pass and caused a scene, forcing the crew to call the police.
The flight attendants refused the passenger's request because he could not show his boarding pass. According to the "diplomat", he was not obliged to do so.
The aircraft commander announced over the loudspeaker that the plane was ready to take off at the appointed time, but was being held up by an uncooperative individual.
After countless attempts to negotiate with the troublemaker, the commander called the civil guard.
The passengers then watched as the "diplomat" argued with the flight attendants and guards. He was eventually escorted out of the cabin. The flight was delayed for a total of 40 minutes.
In a statement, Irish airline Ryanair said: "Before departure from Lanzarote to Santiago (17 January), the crew called the police as one of the passengers had become disruptive. He was removed from the flight. Ryanair is committed to ensuring that all passengers and crew travel in a safe and respectful environment.
The company has a strict zero-tolerance policy for any misconduct by passengers and will continue to take decisive action to deal with offenders. This is in the interests of the majority of passengers. Investigation of such cases is the responsibility of the local police."
