An incident involving a passenger who missed a LATAM flight occurred at El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, Colombia. The angry American tourist attempted to force his way onto the plane, kicking and breaking the door. He threatened the crew and demanded to be let in.
The unnamed US passenger missed LATAM Flight 4090 to Cartagena.
When airline staff told the man that the flight was closed, he became enraged and began to argue with ground staff, and then made his way up the steps to the closed plane.
Video of the incident, filmed by eyewitnesses, shows the man angrily kicking the plane door, demanding to be let in. In the background, an airport employee can be seen waiting for the police to arrive.
Not only the plane, but also the wall next to it got hit.
The man then approached the window and said, "I want to get inside, please." He was holding his passport and boarding pass.
Eventually, airport staff, police, and security detained the troublemaker. During the detention procedure, he attacked one of the agents. After this incident, the man was deported from Colombia.
The president of the Colombian Airline Workers Association, Daniel Gallo, condemned the passenger's actions, calling them "destructive" and "aggressive" and putting staff and other travelers at risk. Gallo called on the Colombian government to pass stricter laws to combat unruly passengers, which he said were on the rise.
