GTA in real time: criminals stole four cars and fled from the police

They didn’t stop at just one tanker truck, and stole several cars before escaping into the night, The Sun reports.

The chase began in the Antelope Valley on the evening of August 10 at around 10:30 p.m. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was pursuing a dark pickup truck that they believed had been stolen. Suddenly, the vehicle stopped, and the suspects unsuccessfully attempted to break into two other vehicles.

Instead, they decided to steal a huge white tanker truck to continue their getaway.

Aerial footage shows the truck driving down Interstate 5. At one point in the frantic chase, they can be seen driving the huge vehicle the wrong way on the freeway.

The criminals eventually abandoned the tanker truck near downtown Los Angeles around midnight before stealing another pickup. They then headed to Boyle Heights, where they stopped and switched places.

Police lost sight of the suspects after they stole a fourth vehicle and fled around the intersection of Cesar Chavez Avenue and Mission Road. That's more than 50 miles from where the wild chase began. The suspects managed to escape, and as of Tuesday, August 12, none of them had been found or arrested.

There were no casualties. It was also lucky that the tanker wasn't filled with fuel or dangerous goods, but milk.

The Los Angeles police said the suspects should be considered "armed and dangerous."
