German official Daniel B. and his wife enjoyed luxurious holidays in expensive hotels until he was arrested. 
In Germany, official Daniel B. is on trial for swindling investors out of more than a million euros and squandering them on entertainment with his wife. In court, he stated that he was very afraid of losing his beloved, who wanted a luxurious life. This is reported by the German publication BILD.
In court, the former employee of the state chancellery presented himself as a victim of his second wife, who is allegedly obsessed with luxury.
"My salary was not enough for her, she wanted to go to Dubai three times a year, bags and expensive clothes," he said.
In court, Daniel B. said that he was shocked by his actions. He admitted that he had harmed people, but at the same time he said that he did it because he was afraid of losing his second wife. 
He spent 30 thousand euros on his honeymoon to the Maldives alone.
According to him, investors came to him themselves when they saw photos of the bright couple on the Instagram account of his wife Dana E., also a civil servant.
"People asked me: how do you do it? Then I, using my school knowledge of the stock market business game, ordered the creation of an algorithm for calculating cryptocurrency rates and offered to invest the money of my friends," the official said. 
According to the court, he promised up to 20% profit, while recalling his career in the civil service, but in court the man denied making such promises, because the contracts indicate the risk of a complete loss of investments. The trial is still ongoing, and the official and his wife were fired from their jobs.
"I needed this experience. I feel like the biggest loser in the world. In the end, I lost 20 kilograms, quit drinking and work as a toilet cleaner," the defendant said.
