Police caught an arms dealer "red-handed": his own security camera gave him away (3 photos + 1 video)

British police in Birmingham have arrested two men who were illegally selling firearms. The key evidence in this case was a video from a surveillance camera that the buyer installed for his own safety.

Journalists write that in mid-January, 32-year-old Suni Masih met with the seller Jeremiah Williams, who handed the customer a package with unknown contents. Literally a few moments later, the man took out a gun and hid it back, returning home. The surveillance camera captured this episode.

An hour later, police received information about the sale of illegal firearms. A special unit arrived at the scene and detained Mr. Masih, who was trying to get rid of the weapon during the police assault. The next day, law enforcement officers conducted a thorough search and found the wanted pistol.

The seller, 30-year-old Jeremiah Williams, was subsequently detained. The cops also paid attention to the surveillance camera, which became irrefutable evidence in court about the men's involvement in the illegal trafficking of firearms.

Birmingham Detective Chief Inspector Bryn Robins commented on the arrest and sentencing of the men, and also revealed unknown details of the case.

"What was very interesting was that it was the security camera that became the 'iron' evidence of the men's involvement. After all, when it was supposed to record the crime, it did," the policewoman said.

Ms Robins added that the gun seized was quite unusual, and experts are now trying to establish how it could have ended up in illegal circulation.

"We may never know how Mr. Masih planned to use the gun. But it was an extremely dangerous weapon that could cause death or serious injury. Therefore, those involved in the supply of lethal firearms should be aware of the long prison terms. In the end, we are glad that we were able to remove this gun from the streets, and also bring to justice those involved in the sale," the police officer notes.

The media writes that the trial of two suspects has already taken place. Themis took into account the arguments of the prosecution and decided to sentence Mr. Suni Masih to 5.5 years in prison. The gun seller Jeremiah Williams received a harsher sentence - he will have to serve six years behind bars.
