A woman from the most "remote" village spends 10 hours on the way to the store: how she lives there (2 photos + 1 video)
Each grocery trip, including food, petrol and accommodation if you need to stop overnight, costs Hilary almost £1,000.
Hilary Messer-Burrow, 35, from Canada, lives with her husband in a remote village where there is no electricity. The woman loves the peace and quiet that reigns there, but it is simply impossible to run out to the grocery store if she wants something sweet or just a snack, because such a trip requires preparation in advance. She shares her life on her TikTok page.
In the viral video, which has been viewed more than 2.5 million times, the creator shares details of her preparation for a 300-mile (483 km) grocery trip, including creating Excel spreadsheets with special categories.
"We do this trip on average every 6-8 weeks. We make sure our car has a fully stocked emergency kit in case of a breakdown or accident. Because it's such a remote road trip, you have to be prepared for the possibility of being stuck for a while," she explains.
Each trip, including food, petrol and accommodation if you need to stop overnight, costs the couple almost £1,000.
"In winter, as a rule, we stop overnight, because there is very little light, but in summer we cover the distance in one day. We buy groceries, food, dog food, as well as various household items such as toilet paper, cleaning products, gardening tools. The numbers can vary," Elizabeth said in an interview with What's The Jam.
Her video, published on social networks, has collected more than 193 thousand likes and 1,700 comments. Netizens began actively discussing what they saw.
"How is it even possible to live so far away?";
"And after that, how can I complain about having to spend two hours every week on the way to the store?";
"You just need to buy a helicopter, damn it."
