A vacation turns into a disaster: a couple flooded a hotel while having fun in a pool
An Australian couple overfilled their hotel pool while on holiday in China, causing flooding on several floors and causing a stir among staff and guests.
Sydney gym owner Graham Bernard, 49, and his wife Jodie were staying at the Iseya Panoramic Hotel in Chongqing. Their room on the "50th floor in the sky" had a private pool, which staff had filled with water beforehand.
However, the couple failed to notice a sign in the local language warning them to turn off the taps. As a result, the pool overflowed, causing water to spill over the edge and flood the floors below.
The couple said they were relaxing with champagne when the incident occurred, until they suddenly started receiving messages about the flooding.
"The doorbell rang and it was like a scene from CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. The cleaners and the manager rushed in to clean up," Graham recalls.
The hotel staff initially panicked, but later it turned out that the drains were clogged. The staff apologized to the guests several times, and the Bernards themselves admitted that they did not do anything intentional.
Viewers were divided in the comments.
"This is more of a design error", "Hmm, nasty", "Next time I need to stay here", "So they have a pool inside the room, but they did not make the room waterproof", "Why do you think this is funny? I hope you were accused," they wrote.
