Two restomod Chevrolet Corvette from the 1960s will be put up for auction (7 photos)
In mid-January, two restomods based on the second-generation Chevrolet Corvette will be put up for auction. The coupe and convertible are designed in the same style and have the same 540-horsepower engines.
The hardtop restomod is based on a 1963 car, while the donor version with a convertible top rolled off the assembly line four years later. Both sports cars have restored bodies, painted in a special shade of white, and interiors trimmed with leather, mahogany, and chrome. New sports seats, climate control systems, and electric windows have been installed.
The custom chassis in both cases is complemented by a modern steering mechanism, multi-link suspension on the rear axle and large Schott wheels with Wilwood brakes. The volume of the eight-cylinder engine with a custom cover design is not reported, but it is known that it develops 540 hp and works with a four-speed automatic transmission.
Both cars were built by the Jeff Hayes Customs studio. CarBuzz specifies that one of the last Corvette restomods from this studio was sold at auction for $770 thousand.
