Lennox Castle was built between 1837 and 1841 in the style of a Norman castle for John Lennox Kincaid by the architect David Hamilton. During World War I, the castle was requisitioned for use as a military hospital. From 1936, the building was used as a psychiatric hospital, which operated until 2002.
