A 35-year-old man was found in a dungeon under a trailer (3 photos)
According to Marshal Tyrese Miller, the entrance to the pit was hidden under a rug, and Billy Lee Walton Jr. was sitting inside.
American police officers were surprised when they lifted the rug in the trailer and saw a hatch with an entrance to the dungeon. Inside was hiding 35-year-old Billy Lee Walton Jr., a dangerous criminal wanted by the Tennessee Department of Corrections for violating parole.
Walton has reportedly committed several other misdemeanor counts this year, including traffic violations and drug possession.
According to Marshal Tyrese Miller, the entrance to the pit was hidden under a rug, and Walton was inside. "Someone had created a hideout, but it wasn't good enough to outsmart law enforcement."
He is currently in the Madison County Jail. Police say he was apprehended by the Two Rivers Task Force, which spans multiple agencies in Tennessee and has offices in Memphis and Jackson. Previously, members of this group tracked down and captured another 2,600 dangerous criminals who were hiding from the law.
Billy Walton was sentenced to 12 years in 2016, but he continued to commit new crimes. This year, the Tennessee Highway Patrol charged him with reckless driving, violating the open container law, driving under the influence, driving with a revoked/suspended license, and manufacturing/delivering/selling/possessing a controlled substance.
Investigators are currently investigating.
