The new capital of Indonesia is not yet built, but is already cursed (6 photos)

Indonesia is planning to move – from Jakarta to the more properly designed city of Nusantara, which is still under construction. But a lot of people don’t want to move there not only because it’s expensive, but also because it’s difficult to move all the infrastructure.

Does the President of Indonesia believe in ghosts or is he pretending “for the sake of likes”?

Many officials say that the new capital is already cursed.

An official from the National Cyber Security and Cryptography Agency expressed some concern about the big move. She said she was afraid of santet, a traditional Indonesian practice involving spells, charms and dark supernatural powers used to harm others from a distance. The official said her own husband had previously been cursed by santet when he was posted to West Kalimantan province.

Many other heads of administration agreed with her, all of whom believe in santet, and many of whom believe they have been cursed in the past.

The move will indeed be difficult, and in an area with its own traditions

The place was cursed from the start!

The fact is that Kalimantan, the Indonesian part of the island of Borneo, has long been associated with other mystical cultural practices. For example, tribes of headhunters lived here, who could also eat the victim they caught. People have always been afraid to visit this place, and people do not want to move, even officials.

The President who exorcises evil spirits

The government itself believes in black magic. In 2022, before construction began, President Joko Widodo performed a ritual called Kendi Nusantara, or “Nusantara Jar.” During the ritual, regional leaders were tasked with bringing soil and water samples from their regions to be mixed in a large clay pot.

The President performs the pot ritual

The ritual was reminiscent of selametan, a Javanese practice of seeking permission from local spirits before occupying a new building or home. Cleverly enough to appease future residents and builders, the plan didn’t work.

And all because the president himself believes in it and is afraid of it.

For example, he always timed major cabinet reshuffles to coincide with his personal auspicious day according to the Javanese calendar.

Widodo's government also enlisted the services of Ilham Triadi Nagoro, a renowned rain shaman from the Banyuwangi black magic center (!), to ensure that the Independence Day celebrations this Saturday in Nusantara will be rain-free.

The construction is already dragging on for quite some time, but who ever delivered anything on time?

This same shaman was hired to spend 22 days in the new capital, armed with 1,000 sticks of sacred incense and three ancient daggers. All to "ward off magical influence." He later told everyone that he suffered from physical weakness and pain during the first few days in Nusantara after supernatural forces "attacked" him in his sleep.

"I spiritually fought my dreams and premonitions. I survived, but my body hurts," the shaman admitted.

They themselves are the ones who are inciting fear; people would not be so afraid in advance if the government itself did not arrange a show and panic.

And here they are casting a spell in the other direction

The local tribes are not very happy about the entire capital being moved to them. That is why they also began to cast spells in the opposite direction as much as they could, because they understand that they will not be able to withstand an armed confrontation with Indonesian soldiers.

Many of them rejected Jokowi's "Jug of Nusantara" ritual because it did not include the original symbols of the local Dayak tribes. They perceived it as a "call to war" because the local ancestors were not accepted.

The Dayaks in Indonesia are VERY stern Indians who don't like all this moving.

And now the parang maya has begun - "invisible war", during which a shaman can summon a poisoned wind to protect his village. Another common form is the curse of Panah Terong, which causes the slow death of the victim.

In general, we will see whose magic will be stronger. And whether the reshuffle will help the president on his happy days.
