During the flight, there were 153 passengers in the aircraft cabin.
Two Indonesian Batik Air pilots slept for 28 minutes during a passenger plane flight. At that moment there were 153 passengers in the cabin. This is according to a report published by the Indonesian National Transport Safety Committee (KNKT).
It became clear that the incident occurred in January 2024. The plane was flying from Kendari to the country's capital, Jakarta. First, the 32-year-old aircraft captain fell asleep. Having rested a little, he offered to sleep to the co-pilot, who refused. The captain went to bed again with a calm soul, but the co-pilot could not stand it and also fell asleep. At this time, dispatchers tried to contact the pilots, but they did not hear, as they were fast asleep. The pilot woke up 28 minutes later. He saw the sleeping co-pilot and realized that the ship had veered off course. The pilot leveled it out and told air traffic controllers that there had been a malfunction.
The Batik Air airline said that the co-pilot had twins and stayed up all night helping his wife with the children.
