A 9-year-old boy named Lu from Wuhan, China, was tricked into undergoing breast augmentation surgery under the pretext that it could increase his income by broadcasting live on the Internet.

The boy's mother said her son had plastic surgery on July 28 on the advice of a local hospital staff when he applied for a job there.

Disclosed conversations on the Chinese messaging app WeChat between the boy and the hospital staff showed that the boy had applied for a job that offered "full board" and a monthly salary of 3,000 yuan.

When Lu asked about job opportunities for men during the interview, the clinic staff responded, "You can get your breasts done first and then start working."

The boy said that such procedures were usually done by women and said he did not have the money for the surgery, but the staff convinced him otherwise and offered to finance the operation in installments.



"We have a lot of streamers who get surgeries here and make a lot of money. Some platforms allow you to withdraw a certain amount within a week, while others allow you to withdraw it daily," the clinic said.

The teenager eventually took out a loan of 37,000 yuan to pay for the surgery.

"When we heard about it, we were absolutely shocked. After the surgery, my son's breasts are a C-cup. When I see these scars, my heart breaks. It's like the sky has fallen. He's only 19 years old," the mother said.

The implants were later removed, but the woman said it re-traumatized her son. She also shared medical reports that prove that the boy has intellectual disabilities, and that he suffers from depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders.
