An autistic boy has been found after nearly drowning in a pond in Florida. The 5-year-old ran away from his home in Deltona around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. His parents were alerted by an alarm system, and they immediately began searching for him, while neighbors called 911.

Volusia Sheriff's deputies combed the surrounding area, paying special attention to bodies of water.

Almost twenty minutes later, Officer Wes Brough found the boy in a pond a few blocks from his home.

Brow pulled the fugitive out and took him for a medical checkup before returning him to his family. The parents told police they had taken a number of steps to secure the home, including an alarm on the door.

Wes Brough has been trained to work with people with autism.

"Great job, thanks to everyone involved in the search," police said.
