Missing girl found among Florida swamps (5 photos + 1 video)
Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies quickly responded to a report of a missing child. A helicopter with a thermal imager was involved in the rescue operation. It turned out that a 5-year-old girl with autism had wandered into a swamp.
"Hello!" - the man shouts, and the girl waves back at him.
“Come here, honey... let’s get you out of the water,” the officer says tenderly.
The mother reported her missing when she learned that her daughter was not with her neighbors.
In less than an hour, the girl was found unharmed.
“In situations like this, every second counts, and it’s always nice to see such a quick response from our deputies and such a positive result,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “When you have to work with people with autism, there are challenges. First, they are drawn to water "Secondly, they often have difficulty communicating."
Chronister said the department has a program called "Safety Net" that is installed on helicopters and some patrol cars and helps quickly locate missing children, people with autism and the elderly.
“The girl escaped with only scratches,” the sheriff added.
