A time capsule in the form of a new 1985 Chevrolet Camaro is up for sale (38 photos)
A 1985 Chevrolet Camaro in the rare loaded IROC-Z version with factory seat covers and conveyor marks on the windows has been put up for sale in the states. Since its production in 1985, the car has traveled only 18 kilometers. It was valued at exactly 100 thousand dollars.
The car gained fame in 2008 when it was discovered in an abandoned trailer. The Camaro's odometer then showed 4.3 miles (less than 7 km). It was possible to find out that the muscle car was purchased by the first owner in the same 1985 for $16,338, while the buyer asked the dealer in advance not to carry out pre-sale preparation. Therefore, the car was loaded into a trailer for storage in the same form as it came off the assembly line - with protective wrapping on all interior elements, service stickers and marks on the glass that were left by the factory workers.
After being found, the Camaro changed hands several times, including at prestigious auctions like Mecum, but they all diligently kept the car in its original condition. The current owners have already stated that they are not looking for a quick sale. Until someone wants to buy the Camaro at a clearly inflated price, it will serve as a decoration for the car showroom.
The Camaro is equipped with a 5-liter V8 and a 5-speed manual transmission. The execution of IROC-Z implied a complex of improvements. These cars featured alternative Bilstein shock absorbers, reinforced anti-roll bars, and original wheels.
