Luxurious 1959 Chevrolet El Camino restmod put up for sale (18 photos)
Chevrolet began production of the iconic El Camino in 1959. One of the first copies of the pickup truck, assembled that same year, was turned into a luxury restomod and put up for sale. The car features a custom engine, modified suspension and some new interior details designed to improve comfort.
Sellers claim that the vintage pickup truck was carefully restored before being equipped with modern gadgets. The body was painted deep black with red accents, echoing the leather-trimmed interior. The cargo platform was lined with wooden overlays combined with metal inserts.
The cabin has some modern amenities. El Camino was equipped with an air conditioning system and heated seats, the windows received electric windows, and the steering mechanism received adjustments and power steering. However, no media systems are mentioned in the description of the restomod.
Under the hood of the El Camino is a V8 with a volume of about 5.7 liters combined with an automatic transmission. The first generation pickups were equipped with similar engines as standard, but the power unit here is far from standard. This is a ZZ4 eight from the Chevrolet Performance catalog, the Holley carburetor on which was replaced with an electronic injection system from FiTech. The factory ZZ4 produces about 355 horsepower and 549 Nm, but in the El Camino the engine is clearly more powerful.
The car now has power-assisted disc brakes, as well as original 18-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels. Judging by the photo, El Camino can also have pneumatic elements.
