Taycan Turbo GT became the most powerful Porsche in the history of the brand (19 photos)

Porsche has presented the most technologically advanced, powerful and fastest version of the Taycan electric car. Its engines can produce up to 1109 hp. s., which nominally makes it the most powerful Porsche ever allowed on public roads. Accepting orders is already open, the price in Europe is from 240,000 euros.

The Taycan Turbo GT has an upgraded rear motor with a new inverter, but its power plant still consists of two motors (its main competitor, the Tesla Model S Plaid, has three). Nominally they develop 789 hp. s., but activating launch control will increase their output immediately to 1033 forces. Another mode called Attack Mode will increase the unit’s power to 1109 hp. s., but it will only last two seconds. The traction indicator is 1340 Nm, the power reserve will not exceed 555 km.

At the same time, the Taycan was put on a diet. Thanks to new carbon parts, lightweight 21-inch wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes and other little things like seats on carbon-fiber frames, the engineers managed to get rid of 75 kg.

The electric car will be lighter by another 70 kg when installing the optional Weissach package, which implies the abandonment of some equipment. From the Taycan, for example, the rear seat, part of the sound insulation and several speakers will be removed. In addition, the package includes a more advanced aerodynamic tail, including a wing. The chassis uses adaptive shock absorbers with special settings and pneumatic elements by default.

As a result, the standard Taycan Turbo GT accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds, reaches 200 km/h in 6.6 seconds, and has a top speed of 290 km/h. The performance of the Turbo GT with the Weissach package is 2.1 and 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 305 km/h.

Porsche places special emphasis on the handling of the new product and, even before the official debut, took the electric car to a couple of prestigious tracks in Europe and the USA. At the Nurburgring, the Taycan Turbo GT became the fastest electric sedan, losing among battery-powered cars mainly to the Rimac Nevera hypercar, and on the Laguna Seca track it turned out to be the absolute champion among electric cars.
