A circus bear suddenly attacked the artist (4 photos + 1 video)
At a circus performance in China, a Himalayan bear attacked one of the performers. This suddenly happened in front of shocked spectators. It took the help of six people to save the man.
During a circus performance in the Chinese city of Huzhou, a Himalayan bear named Xiong Xiong attacked one of the performers. In the middle of the performance, the bear suddenly turned on the man and knocked him to the ground. The second man immediately rushed to the aid of his colleague and tried in every possible way to pull the bear away.
According to Chinese media reports, it took six circus employees to save the artist. At this time, shocked spectators watched what was happening. This isn't the first time a Chinese circus performer has been attacked by a bear during a performance - and compared to previous similar incidents, the man in the video got off fairly lightly. For example, in December, a Himalayan bear roller-skating at a circus suddenly lost control, attacked and bit one of its trainers.
The Animal Rights Institute of Asia has long called for a ban on the use of animals in circuses, as have animal activists around the world.
“Keeping animals in captivity and using them for entertainment can cause stress and aggression. In addition to the unnatural environment, the presence of other animals with which they are incompatible, and unnatural conditions (crowded conditions, cages), violence and intimidation are used against them, which also leads to stress ,” say representatives of the institute.
Himalayan bears are listed as "vulnerable" on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
They are endangered mainly due to deforestation and poaching. Despite this, they are often used in circuses.
