Rare 95-year-old Rolls-Royce Phantom II turned into an electric car (14 photos)
Specialists in the conversion of classic cars into electric cars, Electrogenic, call the conversion of a Rolls-Royce the most daring and complex work in their practice: it took a year and a half to complete. Body by HJ Mulliner and Co. remained completely original, and under the long hood, instead of a 7.7-liter inline “six,” they installed a 93-kilowatt-hour battery in an aluminum casing. Behind it, between the frame side members, there is a 204-horsepower electric motor connected to a single-stage gearbox.
Removing the internal combustion engine required upgrading the chassis lubrication system and brake drive. The braking system has received a new hydraulic booster and now works in conjunction with an energy recovery system.
The interior has retained its historical trim using leather and wood, but the purpose of some instruments has changed: for example, the fuel gauge has become an indicator of the battery charge level. With a full battery pack, such an electric car can cover about 240 kilometers.
How much this conversion cost Jason Momoa is not reported. At the same time, if desired, he will be able to return the internal combustion engine in conjunction with a four-speed gearbox to the rare Rolls-Royce.
