In Brazil, a baby wandered around the city at night looking for her mother (4 photos + 1 video)
A three-year-old girl was rescued in southeastern Brazil. On the night of August 3, workers noticed the child in a diaper on Santo André Street in Sao Paulo and immediately called the police. The baby was crying and looking for her 19-year-old mother, who had gone to a party.
On surveillance video at 1:31 a.m., the barefoot girl reached an intersection when a car sped past her. She stopped at a manhole and began to cry: "I want my mommy."
The workers called the police and asked locals to give the baby warm clothes.
"She was blue from the cold," one of the workers, Rafael Cruz, told SBT News. "She kept saying over and over that she wanted her mom."
The girl's grandmother arrived at the police station about an hour later. The mother returned home at 4 a.m. and was immediately arrested.
"The woman admitted that she left her daughter asleep to go to a funk disco," the Sao Paulo Department of Public Security said in a statement.
Her daughter was placed in the custody of a child welfare agency.

The young mother's stepfather told SBT News that this was the first time she had left her daughter alone at home.
"I agree, she is wrong. It's about the child, and she should think about him," he added.
