Maternity capital in Italian: a woman announced 12 pregnancies in 5 years (2 photos)
Rome resident Barbara Ioele came up with a grandiose plan to improve her financial situation.
She began her vigorous activity in 2014, it was then that she first filed documents about her pregnancy, which did not happen. She cleverly forged her gynecologist’s signatures, seals and letterheads, and they believed her. The birth was counted, maternity benefits were paid. And then it started. Over the next 5 years, she reported 12 pregnancies, 5 of which allegedly ended in successful births.
So, Benedetta, Angelica, Abramo, Letizia and Israel were born. But the other 6 ended in miscarriages and we sympathize wildly with our work colleagues.
The pseudo-birth was successful, money was transferred to the account regularly, and enterprising Barbara did not take maternity leave. But the years passed, and the children did not come to the attention of government agencies, they did not appear in the hospital, they did not visit child care institutions. Doubt crept in among the people as to whether there were children.
Law enforcement agencies made a request to the Roman maternity hospital, which was listed according to the documents as a mother of many children, but there they just threw up their hands and said that they did not know this citizen and she did not come to give birth to them.
It was then that the monstrous truth was revealed that this was not a single mother with many children, but a cunning fraudster who had illegally received maternity payments worth as much as 111 thousand euros.
The trial of Madame was successful, she was sentenced to 20 months in prison for fraud, and her partner Davide Pizzinato also received it for complicity in forgery of documents. He was imprisoned for 7 months.
