Jeep Gladiator copied from a toy sold for charity (13 photos)
A heavily modified Jeep Gladiator sold for $325,000 at a Barrett-Jackson auction. It was built for the 2023 SEMA exhibition, and the model for assembly was a toy from MatchBox - a miniature SUV called RealTruck.
In addition to the toy manufacturer Mattel, the project involved tuning studios RealTruck Inc and Doetsch Off-Road. The pickup truck, for example, had its ground clearance increased by 10 centimeters (from 25.5 centimeters), modifying the suspension with Fox shock absorbers and installing the Gladiator on 17-inch wheels with 37-inch General Grabber tires. Just like the toy SUV, they are painted in a combination of black and orange. In addition, the steering mechanism has been improved.
Gladiator is equipped with power bumpers, a winch and a roof rack, and the cargo bed is equipped with a specially designed accessory rack. The equipment set includes fuel cans, extra light, a tent and much more.
The body of the pickup truck was decorated with stickers similar to those used on the toy. According to some reports, when creating Gladiator, the designers gained access to the computer files of the MatchBox company itself. Thus, one livery is exactly the same as the other, taking into account the scale.
The pickup's power unit has not changed. This is a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 horsepower combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The current owners of the unusual truck plan to donate the proceeds to charity.
