Hyundai presented an air taxi, which it plans to put into mass production (7 photos + 1 video)
Hyundai's Supernal division demonstrated a new iteration of the air taxi, which it has been developing for several years. The copter, coded S-A2, is designed for short flights and can carry up to four passengers, not including the pilot. Hyundai plans to begin serial production of such taxis in 2028.
Hyundai S-A2 is a capsule suspended under pylons with propellers and equipped with a tail unit. The screws can change the angle of inclination and work both to change height and to move forward.
So far, only the most general characteristics are known. The eVTOL will rise to a height of up to 450 meters, and its cruising speed will be about 200 km/h. The project is being developed for short-distance transport of 40 to 60 kilometers and is thus mainly aimed at use in cities. Hyundai claims that the noise generated by the engines is comparable in intensity to the noise of large household appliances and the flight of the S-A2 will not disturb residents of high-rise buildings.
The eVTOL range has not been specified. The company only stated that it is working on using replaceable battery technology on air taxis so that the copters do not waste time charging during operation.
