A trash streamer from Russia will go to prison for the death of his colleague
Trash streamer Stanislav Reshetnyak was sentenced to six years in prison for the unintentional death of his girlfriend on live television.
Valentina Grigorieva died at the age of 28 in December 2020 due to the violence she suffered during a live broadcast. This was all part of a trend known as "trash streaming", which has seen an increasing number of instances where viewers make donations in exchange for the streamer's brutal and violent actions (of which the victims are usually women).
Reshetnyak locked Grigorieva on a balcony in the cold and in her underwear for several hours in exchange for a donation of $1,000. When he brought her limp body home, she was already dead, and Reshetnyak desperately tried to revive her. One of the spectators called an ambulance, and doctors pronounced him dead. All this continued to be broadcast live until the police arrived...
According to the autopsy, Grigorieva died from head injuries received as a result of the beating, and not from freezing. The girl suffered a brain hemorrhage, as well as numerous wounds and bruises on her body. In previous live broadcasts, Reshetnyak had already abused a young woman by spraying her in the face with pepper spray, sitting on her face (for 22 euros) or forcing her to eat garbage (for 33 euros).
According to Russian media reports, the 30-year-old YouTuber was sentenced to six years in prison for manslaughter. This is not the first known case of violence and harassment recorded live, especially against women who were beaten and forced to perform sexual acts.
