22 environmental activists of the Futuro Vegetal movement were detained in Spain (5 photos + 1 video)
Adherents of the "Vegetable Future" poured paint on the Congress building. Prominent works of art suffered at their hands. They blocked roads and harassed farmers. In a word, they did so much mischief that the government decided: that’s it, it’s time to take action.
It’s not for nothing that environmental activists are called “eco-terrorists.” On the one hand, these comrades care about the environment and the bright future of their descendants, on the other hand, they so actively and zealously spoil the lives of those around them that they cause much more harm than a conditional farmer raising cows for meat, or a driver of a car with a gasoline engine.
Recently, a hunt was announced in Spain for adherents of the Futuro Vegetal movement. Particularly distinguished representatives of this group managed to get a lot of attention from politicians, artists, and farmers. What did these extremely active and restless people do? The police counted 65 actions in which "vegetable growers" inherited.
The investigation began in January 2022 after paint was thrown on the façade of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food in Madrid. In addition, the group's crimes include blocking traffic on Madrid's ring roads, damaging works of art in the Prado Museum and other private property, and infiltrating the runways of Ibiza and Madrid airports.
Representatives of the “Vegetable Future” also poured paint on the facades of the Congress of Deputies and other buildings.
The damage from the activities of the criminal group amounted to at least €500 thousand. It also turned out that the organization received more than 140,000 euros in donations, part of which was payment for coordinating the actions of Futuro Vegetal.
Among the 22 detainees are three main leaders who directed the group's activities as a criminal organization. Police are continuing their investigation and arrests may have just begun.
