One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, 1976

The author of the book, Ken Kesey, personally wrote the script for the film. However, it did not suit Milos Forman (the film’s director) at all, because the story was told on behalf of Bromden (the Leader). After this, the offended author said that he would never watch a film adaptation of his creation in such a “perverted” form. Moreover, he even sued the producers, but his claim was rejected.

"The Last Emperor", 1988
