Slave of love and Williams syndrome (8 photos)
The feeling of falling in love is a wonderful feeling. The thrill, butterflies in the stomach, the desire to smile and share your joy - all this is delightful. But everything is good in moderation.
And for 27-year-old Louisiana resident Alexandra Birch, love is a curse. After all, the girl falls in love with everyone she meets, with everyone she sees. And the reasons are not at all in promiscuity, but in a rare disease that is diagnosed in one person out of 10 thousand.
Williams syndrome is a rare genetic disorder characterized by general developmental delay with simultaneous development of certain areas of intelligence. Such patients have a specific appearance and hypersociality, because of which they literally adore the whole world and love everyone they meet.
Alexandra is looked after by her older sister, 30-year-old Victoria. The woman says that the relative behaves very directly and openly in society, she can easily approach a stranger, hug, kiss, as some kids who are not yet familiar with social norms do.
But the behavior of an adult girl makes people tense. Therefore, Victoria carefully explains to her sister that not the whole world is kind, and people may not respond to hugs with good intentions. Therefore, after elementary school, Victoria transferred her younger sister to home schooling.
Birch gradually learns to control himself, and compensates for the lack of communication with virtual friendship. Alexandra has hundreds of online friends all over the world. Victoria helps the girl manage social networks. Taking the opportunity, she talks about the features of the syndrome and teaches others not to be afraid of people suffering from it. The sisters also run a common business - they design and sew clothes.
The girls get their material from thrift stores. Purchased items are cut, combined and created into something new - sweatshirts, jackets, T-shirts, tops, and souvenirs are made.
Victoria Birch notes that her sister is not worried about haters, of which there are more than enough on the Internet, because she looks at this world differently:
At first, I didn’t even dare to publish it on social networks. I mean, there are things that could upset her, but she chooses not to, and that makes me proud. The way she loves and cares about people is a good reminder to me to just see the world from her perspective. I will always be there, that's what sisters are for.
