After a risky overtaking maneuver, the Passau District Court sentenced a Czech truck driver to two years and three months in prison. A court official said Thursday he will also have to relinquish his driver's license for four years. The revocation of a driver's license only applies to Germany and not to its home country, the Czech Republic. This was previously reported by Bayerischer Rundfunk.
The 53-year-old man was found guilty of intentionally endangering traffic. The court found it proven that at the end of January a man overtook a tractor-trailer on federal highway 12 near Freyung - despite the ban. The oncoming bus simply managed to brake and go around it.
