Managers were expected to set the standard for behavior: head Astronomer caught in office romance quits company (2 photos + 4 videos)
The organization said its CEO did not meet the company's expectations for behavior and accountability.
Last week, the head of a major IT company made his office romance public in the most ridiculous way. Andy Byron and a colleague attended a Coldplay concert in Boston, where they accidentally got caught on camera while hugging - their image was shown on the screen by the cameraman. After this incident, Byron climbed under the railing, and his passion - the head of the HR department at Astronomer - turned away in embarrassment.

The head of Astronomer is married, and his wife Megan Kerrigan Byron was at home with the children at the time of her husband's adventures. Of course, her husband's affair came as a shock to her - the woman quickly deleted her accounts from social networks so as not to become a target for ridicule and sympathy.

And for good reason. The video with the hugging husband gained millions of views on all available social networks. He was ridiculed by everyone - in memes, and evening shows, and in stadiums. Thus, the most popular news of the week was beaten by the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team. To the tune of Coldplay, the team's mascot Philly the Fanatic also tried to hide with his girlfriend, but his long green nose gave him away.

A game was even hastily concocted on this topic: in Coldplay Canoodlers, you are a cameraman who needs to capture the CEO and his co-worker hugging.

And recently it turned out that Byron submitted his resignation, which was accepted by the board of directors. For now, his duties are being performed by Astronomer co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy. In the meantime, the search for the next CEO continues.
"As we have said, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both behavior and accountability, but these standards have not been met recently,” Astronomer said in a statement.
It is also known that on July 19, the Astronomer board of directors launched an investigation into the incident.
It is interesting that there is no information about the dismissal of Christine Cabot, who Byron was hugging. Perhaps the woman will continue to work for the company. By the way, she is also not free - Cabot is married to 60-year-old owner of Privateer Rum Andrew Cabot. The lovers did not comment on the incident, as did Byron's wife, with whom he is raising two children.
