Vintage 1961 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II rebuilt for SEMA (27 photos)
Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II fell into the hands of the masters of the Ringbrothers studio, who prepared it at the SEMA exhibition. Nowadays, not a single major tuning exhibition in the USA is complete without the participation of Jim and Mike Ring. The brothers from Wisconsin cut their teeth on modifying a variety of muscle cars from a young age, and now their name is one of the most significant and respected in the industry.
Not limiting itself to domestic brands, the Ringbrothers studio has timed the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II limousine, which is extremely uncharacteristic for an overseas hot rod, to coincide with the last SEMA. The majestic and ponderous British executive car of 1961 was a symbol of conservatism in the auto industry when new, but now it is just a dinosaur.
After stripping the Silver Cloud down to its core, the brothers began by replacing its frame with a new, lighter, stronger frame from the Roadster Shop. The place of the original carburetor V8 6.2 with its factory 185 “horses” was taken by the modern LT4 V8 compressor engine of the same volume. The final power was 640 hp. With. at 6400 rpm and 861 Nm of torque, sent through a 10-speed Bowler Tru-Street automatic transmission through a custom carbon fiber driveshaft to the rear pair of wheels.
Significantly improved driving dynamics made it inevitable to revise the suspension, which, among other things, now features Fox RS SV coilovers. Brakes with 15-inch discs and 6-piston calipers were supplied by the Baer workshop.
Complete with stunning dark red leather, the interior is brought into the 21st century with modern instrumentation, a starry ceiling with myriads of tiny LEDs and special carpets that increase interior volume and make the interior cozier.
Unusually for Ringbrothers, no changes were made to the Silver Cloud II's appearance. The BASF Glasurit Waterborn White as Fluff body paint is period-correct to the original, re-polished chrome trim, and even new 18-inch EVOD wheels shod with 235/60 front and 255/55 rear Falken Azenis tires. , completely imitate the original ones, including the RR logos, which are always in a readable position.
Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II from Ringbrothers received its own name Paramount. This is not only the name of a famous Hollywood film studio, but also an epithet given to highly excellent products.
