The film "Ghostbusters" became the main summer hit of 1984, collecting an incredible box office for those times.

1. The script for the film was written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, who ended up playing the lead roles of Ray and Egon.

2. By the way, the idea of ghostbusters originates since the mid 70s. At the time, Dan Aykroyd wrote a script about some fighters with evil spirits. True, his script was sustained in quite tough and serious style, and the action of the proposed film should were to develop in the future, and even on different planets. But in each Dan's studios were turning down a film adaptation of his script, so he was shelved.

But when director Ivan Reitman invited Aykroyd to his movie Guide to the Galaxy, Dan decided to show him his manuscript. Reitman found the idea very interesting, but agreed to a film adaptation in scenario revision. The film was to be moved to our time and is made in a comedic vein with elements of fantasy. Main, what had to be left was a team of fighters against evil spirits and, in fact, the filth itself.

To rewrite the script, Dan was given Harold Ramis to help. AND together they completely reworked the script, which in the end was filmed. And the writers even played the main roles.

3. It's hard to imagine anyone as Dr. Peter Venkman except for Bill Murray, and he did not immediately get this role. Originally, Dan Aykroyd wanted to cast his friend John as Peter. Belushi (older brother of James Belushi), with whom they played together movie "The Blues Brothers". But in 1982, Belushi died, so I had to choose another actor for this role.

This role was offered to such actors as Chevy Chase, Steve Guttenberg and even Michael Keaton, but none of them agreed. But only after that, the role was offered to Bill Murray.

5 Sigourney Weaver Originally Wanted The Role Dana, because she wanted to act in a comedy to show that she is a versatile actress. So when she came on audition, then immediately began to behave like a dog, running on all fours and growling at the director. Tom liked the tactics of the actress and he took her to this role.

6 The Marshmallow Man Was Actually Dressed In fireproof stunt suit. But as a marshmallow, which scattered throughout the area, shaving foam was used. It is in her the heroes of the film were smeared.

7. As for shaving foam, according to the original idea on the actor William Atherton, who played a harmful official, should were poured 35 kg of fake marshmallows. But he refused such weight, despite being assured that shaving cream is very light.

And to prove to him that everything will be all right, then these very 35 kg of foam was poured onto a stuntman, who was almost smashed into the ground by this amount of poured foam. Then the filmmakers decided to reduce amount of fake marshmallows.

8. Initially, the hunters' car was supposed to be black. But then the filmmakers decided to repaint it white, realizing that the main scenes will be filmed at night.

9. The movie "Ghostbusters" turned out to be so successful, that in a short time recaptured the budget of the film and received a large profit. With a budget of $30 million (rather big for that time budget) the film earned $282 million, not counting proceeds from the sale of related products, video cassettes, etc.

For 6 years, the film held the first place in the list of the highest grossing comedies, until the film "Home Alone" was released.

10. 5 years later, a sequel to the film with the same cast. The film was less successful, but still collected impressive box office. With a budget of $37 million, the film earned 215 million.

In the early 90s, it was even planned to shoot the third part of the film, but due to a major quarrel between Bill Murray and Harold Ramis, this idea I had to forget, because Murray flatly refused to act anywhere with Ramis.

It wasn't until 2021 that the original team got back together. in the film "Ghostbusters. Descendants." True, at that moment Harold Ramis was no longer alive, so for the film he was "revived" with using computer technology.

11. Bill Murray deviated from the script quite often, so many of the dialogue in the film is his improvisation.

12. The fourth hunter, Winston, was supposed to appear in the movie. much earlier, and he should have had a pretty significant role, since this character was written specifically for Eddie Murphy. But that turned down the role after much deliberation, so the script again had to rewrite, and make Winston a less significant character who appears much later than planned.

13. Slime became a kind of reference to John Belushi, who was originally supposed to play Peter. That slime eating scene food - this is a kind of reference to the movie "The Menagerie", where Belushi played.
