Several hundred thousand euros fell almost on the head.
Recently, a resident of the German town of Elmshorn discovered on backyard of his house an unusual cobblestone and did not guess about it origin. Although he could well imagine. After all, before to discover the find, the family of Mahmut Shahin heard a hiss and a strong blow about earth. Going out into the yard, Mahmut saw a small funnel, from where he took stone weighing about four kilograms.
The man was about to throw him out, but the quick-witted daughters suggested first checking the stone with a magnet. They knew that the meteorite retained for some time after the fall magnetic field, which is absent from terrestrial stones. And verification showed that the daughters were right - the stone came from outer space.
Mahmut immediately placed a valuable find in a bank cell. After all, after it became known about the unusual find, the Shakhin family lucrative offers started coming in. According to the man, he offered 200 thousand euros for a meteorite, but he has not yet sold it in a hurry.
We received international offers by phone and in person. Of course, it is important for us that other people can see the meteorite at least temporarily. Maybe in a museum
According to Karsten Jonas, a scientist from the "Working Group on meteors", the largest meteorite of all fell into the hands of Mahmut ever found in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. The meteorite probably came from the asteroid belt, scientist says between Mars and Jupiter.
