This is a photo of the famous woman in US history Typhoid Mary - an Irish migrant who became the first known asymptomatic carrier of typhoid fever. Working as a cook, she infected dozens of people, not believing she was the carrier of the disease. As a result, authorities forcibly isolated her for many years, making her a symbol of the asymptomatic spread of infections.
