Colonel Matrix's weapon from the movie "Commando" (15 photos + 1 video)
On October 4, all progressive humanity could celebrate not only the 58th anniversary of the launch of Sputnik, but also the 30th anniversary of the release of one of the most famous films of the VHS era - “Commando”. Of course, from an artistic point of view, Mark Lester’s picture is not “Die Hard”, “Terminator” or “RoboCop”. But just watch this classic scene where Schwartz prepares for battle to the epic music of James Horner and tell me - is it really that somewhere deep in your soul nothing stirred? By the way, it’s been verified that with the soundtrack from the film, even the most mundane activity like making tea or taking out the trash begins to seem much more brutal.
Desert Eagle Mark I
To the big hero - big gun. No, you didn't think Arnie would run with a Walther PPK, did you? By the way, initially RoboCop was also supposed to be armed with a Desert Eagle - but it turned out to be too small for him, so a larger gun had to be designed.
Binoculars
Of course, Arnie didn’t kill anyone with the binoculars himself, but he played his role in the future defeat.
Uzi submachine gun
Just a year before “Commando,” Arnie was already actively using Uziel Gal’s invention to eliminate people, so he clearly did not need additional training in handling this weapon.
Remington 870 shotgun
Another very useful weapon for killing bad guys.
It didn’t even bother Arnie that the shotgun prop was slightly dented while running around the island.
Knife
I don’t know what Rambo has, but Bennett’s was smaller than Arnie’s.
Ballistic knife
Hasta la vista, baby was still six years away, so in the scene where he was used, Arnie said something much less epic.
M67 grenades
Before the fight, our hero attached grenades to his vest right behind the pin - so that he could immediately throw them at the enemy. Don't try this at home. And not at home either.
Mines
Radio controlled mines. The M18A1 Claymore was taken as the basis for creating the props - although in the film they destroy buildings, in reality they are anti-personnel and, of course, not radio-controlled at all - but who cared about that while watching?
M202A1 FLASH flamethrower
Arnie in Commando was so cool that he fired the same M202A1 barrel twice. Perhaps he simply did not read the instructions and therefore did not know that this was impossible without recharging.
Valmet M78/83 assault rifle
Finnish machine gun with a butt like the SVD. Although, judging by the film, Arnie didn’t really need the butt - he calmly shot everyone without taking special aim. If I had a little more free time, I would even start calculating how much all the weapons that he put on himself in the preparation scene would actually weigh (the total is binoculars, knives, mines, at least three grenades, a pistol, a half-loaded flamethrower, a shotgun , automatic, uzi and of course a tube of camouflage paint).
M16A1 rifle
This rifle was not part of Arnie's standard set of applied genocide; he picked it up later, clearly demonstrating how elegantly automatic fire could be carried out while holding it with one hand.
M60 machine gun
Many people in those years dreamed of cosplaying Rambo, but Arnie is one of the few who actually succeeded. The machine gun was also not included in the hero’s original kit. By the way, you can pay attention to the clearly visible device for firing blanks in the M60 barrel.
Agricultural equipment
When you run out of ammo, you can use whatever comes to hand. By the way, in the original script, having cut off the hand of one of the soldiers, the hero had to hit him with it and ask him to stop screaming.
And if you think about it carefully, even if Schwartz had no weapons at all in the film, the final result would still be about the same - because good always triumphs over evil. At least that's how it was in the VHS era.
