According to investigators, as payment for the murder of Politkovskaya, Khadzhikurbanov received two BMW and Ford cars, as well as a Yamaha motorcycle. Khadzhikurbanov was sentenced in 2014 to 20 years in prison (although earlier, in 2009, a jury found him not guilty, since a number of facts pointed to his innocence and the fabrication of a criminal case in order to report on the disclosure of a high-profile crime).
