The Renault Sport Spider spawned an unusual relative—the Helem V6, a fixed-roof coupe featuring upward-opening doors. Built on the Spider’s aluminum chassis, it housed a mid-mounted V6 right behind the driver.
The project was developed by Jean-Michel Roy and Brian Johnson’s RJ Racing team. After securing permission from Renault to use the chassis, the team prepped the car for endurance racing, including Le Mans. The project ultimately produced both road-going and race-spec versions.
