Honda S2000-Powered Alfa Romeo GTV (8 Photos)
Brian Tullio spotted a 1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV in a classified listing featuring just one photo and no asking price. It took months of reaching out before he finally got hold of the seller. By then, the car had been sitting for 12 years—while the engine was turned over occasionally, the body was rusting away, and the wiring and hoses were in desperate need of attention.
Initially, Brian kept the stock engine to make it easier to enter VARA vintage racing events. He installed the necessary safety equipment and hit the track. A year later, the engine overheated and seized. He rebuilt it, but during a race at Willow Springs, a connecting rod threw right through the block.
After that second failure, Brian finally pulled the trigger on an engine swap. He sourced a 2.0-liter F20C engine and six-speed manual transmission from a Honda S2000. He custom-fabricated the mounts and exhaust himself, managing engine setup with a Link G4X ECU. Running on E85 fuel, it puts out 209 hp and 192 Nm of torque.
To make trackside transmission servicing easier, Brian built a removable center tunnel. He kept the factory rear axle but upgraded the limited-slip differential, while fitting four-piston brakes up front.
Even the livery is a mashup from different automaker families: Ford’s Eruption Green, GM’s Arctic White, and Honda’s Radiant Red. ![]()
