We've compiled 20 vampire-themed films for you: from classics to innovative interpretations, all incredibly engaging. These films about mystical creatures are worth watching. They'll not only thrill you but also provide aesthetic pleasure.

"30 Days of Night" (2007)

A small Alaskan town is enveloped by the polar night. Until the sun comes out, its inhabitants will have to contend with a gang of bloodsucking bastards intent on throwing themselves a real feast.

"The Vampire's Kiss" (1988)

You might reasonably assume that a vampire movie starring Nicolas Cage is pure madness. And, in fact, it is. Cage's character hangs out in Manhattan clubs and slowly goes mad. At some point, he becomes obsessed with the idea that he's turning into a vampire, and he completely loses touch with reality.

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1992)

The feature-length film isn't as well-known as the series of the same name starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, but that's no reason to underestimate this raunchy teen comedy. The film follows a suburban girl, played by Kristy Swanson, who discovers that her destiny is to fight blood-sucking monsters.

"Blood for Dracula" (1974)

A cult classic starring Udo Kier as Count Dracula. The vampire travels across Italy in search of virgin blood, hoping to restore his powers. The film was produced by none other than Andy Warhol, and one of the main roles is played by his film company's sex symbol, Joe Dallesandro. Roman Polanski also appeared in "Blood for Dracula"—he has a small cameo.

"Real Vampires" (2014)

One of the funniest examples of the genre: a comedy filmed as a documentary about a group of friends—ancient vampires—trying to find their place in the modern world. They share an apartment, argue over who should clean up the bloody dishes, hang out, quarrel with werewolves, and one day turn a friend into a vampire.

"Shadow of the Vampire" (2000)

In 1922, German director F. W. Murnau made one of the most famous and terrifying horror films, "Nosferatu." Nearly 80 years later, John Malkovich played Murnau himself in a film about the events that took place on the set of "Nosferatu." According to the film, the actor who played the treacherous Count Orlov in the early 20th century was actually a vampire.

"Dance of the Vampires" (1967)

Roman Polanski's creepy comedy tells the story of Professor Abronsius (played by the director himself) and his inexperienced assistant, Alfred. The pair travel to Transylvania to hunt vampires. There, they encounter Count von Krolock, who has kidnapped the red-haired beauty Sarah (Sharon Tate, incidentally, Polanski's future wife). The professor and his assistant must not only rescue the girl but also rid the entire village of the monster.

"Blade" (1998)

Wesley Snipes plays a half-breed vampire hunter endowed with superhuman strength in Marvel Entertainment's first successful film. His nemesis is the narcissistic and evil Deacon Frost, who dreams of destroying humanity and taking over the world.

"Thirst" (2009)

Korean director Park Chan-wook made a horror film inspired by Émile Zola's novel "Thérèse Raquin" and interpreting it in a most unexpected way. The film tells the story of a Catholic priest who takes part in a trial of an experimental vaccine for a deadly disease and becomes a vampire. But his obsession with blood fades into the background when he meets the beautiful wife of his childhood friend.

"Almost Dark" (1987)

Kathryn Bigelow ("Point Break") directs a film about a young man who becomes involved with a gang of modern-day vampires traveling across the western United States in an old RV. They spend their days in motels and their nights hunting.

"Only Lovers Left Alive" (2013)

Adam (Tom Hiddleston), a rock musician depressed and weary of life, reunites with his devoted wife, Eve (Tilda Swinton). She is filled with a passion for life and passes it on to her lover. Their idyll continues until the arrival of their younger sister, Eve. Oh, and of course, they're vampires, who have lived, loved each other, and hated humanity for centuries.

"The Lost Boys" (1987)

In Joel Schumacher's ("Enough," "Batman Forever") comedy horror, vampires are portrayed as punk rockers. The film follows two brothers who arrive in a small California town and discover it's controlled by a gang of vampires led by the bleached-out Kiefer Sutherland ("Melancholia").

"The Hunger" (1983)

Catherine Deneuve plays a seductive vampire in 1980s New York. When her partner (David Bowie) begins to age rapidly, she searches for a new lover and settles on a young doctor, played by Susan Sarandon.

"Nosferatu: Phantom of the Night" (1979)

Klaus Kinski and Isabelle Adjani star in this remake of Murnau's aforementioned "Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror." Werner Herzog's direction received critical acclaim worldwide, and the film also enjoyed strong box office receipts.

"A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night" (2014)

Ana Lily Amirpour's directorial debut has been called "the first Iranian vampire western." Sheila Vand's nameless heroine wanders through a small ghost town, searching for lonely residents staying out late.

"Cronos" (1993)

Guillermo del Toro began his rise to fame as a director with the story of a 16th-century alchemist who discovered the secret of eternal youth. The price for it: human blood.

"Let the Right One In" (2008)

12-year-old Oskar lives in Stockholm with his mother. He is lonely and regularly bullied by his classmates. However, everything changes when he meets a new neighbor, a girl named Eli. The children become friends, but Oskar soon realizes that his new friend is no ordinary little girl.

"Interview with the Vampire" (1994)

Director Neil Jordan adapted Anne Rice's novel, casting Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Antonio Banderas as philosophical vampires who cope with the daily challenges of life and their thirst for human blood. He also introduced the world to Kirsten Dunst as a manic child vampire.

"Dracula" (1992)

"The Godfather" director Francis Ford Coppola brilliantly adapted Bram Stoker's classic Gothic novel. One of the leading roles features Gary Oldman, masterfully transforming the bloodsucking villain.

"From Dusk Till Dawn" (1996)

Robert Rodriguez's cult action film stars George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino (who also wrote the screenplay) as the Gekko brothers, who rob a bank and escape to Mexico in a van carrying hostages. They stop at the Titty Twister strip club, where the staff and patrons turn out to be vampires led by Queen Santanico Pandemonium, played by Salma Hayek.
