Swiss kittens Tony, Manny, Sosa, and Elvira are true Instagram stars. Their shared account has already amassed over 130,000 followers. The owners of these adorable Selkirk Rex kittens post new photos and videos of their curly locks almost daily, garnering thousands of likes and hundreds of enthusiastic comments.



Selkirk Rex cats are a relatively new breed, first introduced in the US state of Montana in 1987. These cats have become "stars" in the US, but no one could have imagined the true success they would achieve in Europe and Asia. No cat show in the Old World is complete without Selkirk Rex cats, and in China, Japan, and South Korea, you sometimes have to make an appointment to buy a curly-coated kitten.





Not all Selkirk Rex cats are born with curly fur—sometimes cute, but quite ordinary, fluffy babies are born without any breeding characteristics. Breeders know this isn't a death sentence—with age, their fur begins to curl, and the adult cat will no longer be any different from their "plush" counterparts.
