Bad weather turned a parade of tall ships into a scene from "Pirates of the Caribbean"
Historic tall ships were scheduled to participate in a major parade in the United States. However, the vessels encountered inclement weather. Netizens compared the event to scenes featuring pirate ships from the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
An international flotilla of historic tall ships gathered off the coast of New Jersey for the Sail4th 250. The ships arrived in the Bay Area ahead of the grand parade in New York and New Jersey Harbor, where they were scheduled to pass by the Statue of Liberty. However, the meeting of the tall ships was accompanied by a sharp deterioration in the weather: clouds gathered over the bay, the wind increased, and the sea became rough. Against the backdrop of the storm, the tall masts and historic hulls of the ships looked especially dramatic – almost like a scene from a naval battle film.
