Mesmerizing footage has gone viral online, capturing one of the planet's most fundamental biological processes, usually hidden from human eyes. The photographer managed to capture a detailed image of an underwater plant undergoing intense photosynthesis, when its leaves begin continuously releasing billions of microscopic bubbles of pure oxygen. In aquarist circles, this stunning natural phenomenon is poetically known as "perling." It occurs only when the water in a tank is completely saturated with gas, and new portions of oxygen can no longer dissolve in it, transforming into living, sparkling geysers.
