Fireworks exploded in the hands of an Indian woman at her daughter's birthday party

25-year-old Simran simply wanted to brighten up her 3-year-old daughter's birthday party. She picked up a pyrotechnic pistol (a fireworks gun), and it exploded right in her hands. The result was severe burns to her face, neck, and hands, completely scorched hair, and peeling skin. All of this happened in a shopping center restaurant, in front of her child and guests.
Unfortunately, such incidents in India (and elsewhere) occur regularly due to cheap and low-quality pyrotechnics sold without any safety standards. These "fireworks pistols" and "sparkler guns" are particularly dangerous—they often backfire or explode in people's hands.
