A seven-year-old boy in Norway accidentally discovered a Viking Age sword (2 photos)
First-grader Henrik Refsnes Mertvedt made an unusual discovery during a field trip to Norway. While walking through a plowed field, the boy noticed a rusty metal object in the ground and decided to pick it up, unaware he was holding an ancient artifact. Experts later confirmed the find was a single-edged sword from the early Viking Age, approximately 1,300 years old. Archaeologists noted that the weapon was well preserved for its age and is of great historical value. The story quickly spread through local media and social media, and Henrik himself is already being called a "young treasure hunter." The rare artifact will now be handed over to researchers and a museum, where it can be studied by specialists.
