The mystery of Hattusa: a 1-ton "Green Stone" was discovered in the ruins of the ancient Hittite capital (4 photos)

In the ruins of the ancient city of Hattusa, archaeologists have discovered an unusual object—a massive block of jade weighing nearly a ton, known as the "Green Stone." It stands alone among other finds and is not associated with any known buildings or ritual sites. Scientists still haven't come to a consensus on why this stone was brought to the capital of the Hittite Empire more than three thousand years ago. The lack of context and signs of processing makes the artifact one of the most enigmatic finds from the ancient city.
