Brembo has launched brakes without a hydraulic system (2 photos)
Brembo, one of the world's leading brake manufacturers, has announced its innovative Sensify system. Its key feature is the absence of a hydraulic drive. According to the company, the new system has already entered serial production.
Hydraulic brakes have been used in passenger cars for about 100 years. Modern models may have electric pedal actuation, but a special fluid is responsible for directly pressing the pads against the discs. Brembo Sensify uses no fluid; brake control is entirely electronic.
The company has not yet disclosed full design details or provided detailed explanations regarding the system's safety. However, separate control of the mechanisms on all wheels is mentioned (in the event of failure of one, the force is redistributed).
Brembo stated that the development is scalable for vehicles of various classes and can be implemented in both completely new models and as part of an upgrade to existing ones. Furthermore, Sensify has already entered serial production: the system will be installed on vehicles of an unnamed "leading global" brand, and contracts have been signed with other companies. Brembo expects to supply these brakes to hundreds of thousands of vehicles per year. ![]()
