In Brazil, approximately 200 tourists were trapped on a mountain peak after access to a hiking trail was blocked. The incident was sparked by an armed conflict between police and members of the Comando Vermelho criminal group. The shootout blocked the main evacuation route, preventing the tourists from descending safely. It was only after approximately eight hours that the tourists were safely escorted off the mountain.
