A pelican named Han Han, who lives at the Wuhan Wildlife Kingdom (Wuhan, Hubei Province, China), recently made a rather unpleasant appearance.

The bird seriously frightened a visitor when it grabbed her hand in its beak and appeared to be trying to chew it off. Many social media users immediately called Han Han a man-eater and wondered if it was safe to allow such a bloodthirsty creature to interact with visitors.

Zoo administration issued a statement. Han Han is completely harmless and certainly does not feed on human victims. The young pelican, just a year old, was a little nervous in a crowd and reacted somewhat strangely. In fact, grabbing the woman's hand with its beak was not an attack, but rather a defensive reaction. Moreover, the woman was not injured.
