Management change at Apple (3 photos)
Apple announced a management shakeup: current CEO Tim Cook is stepping down and is expected to lead the board of directors. His replacement will be John Ternus, who was responsible for the company's hardware division and hardware development. Cook led Apple since 2011, succeeding Steve Jobs and leading the company to a new stage of development.
Ternus, in turn, spent almost his entire career at Apple – approximately 25 years – starting as an engineer and rising to senior vice president of hardware engineering. He played a key role in the company's transition to in-house chips and contributed to the development of products such as the Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and AirPods.
Within the company, he is known as a strong technical leader and is noted for his low-key management style, which is less public than some of his predecessors in the industry.
